On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2010-07-16

The Wanderer Returns

Ryan Seacrest is back on KIIS FM after his vacation

Fridays are generally good, but this one was even better because Ryan was back! The show came off reruns on Monday so we’ve enjoyed four days of listening to Ellen play with her new toy (years of wheedling information out of Ryan for our listening pleasure apparently made his stand-in a bit of an easy target as we learned quite a lot about Damien Fahey in four days), but it was fantastic to hear Ryan’s voice again. If I had a tail I would have wagged it. In fact, I know where my puppy’s coming from now when she jumps up and licks my nose when I get home. I think a lot of people felt the same way, minus the nose licking (probably), because callers kept telling Ryan they’d missed him and he got a lot of ‘welcome back’ tweets.

X17 got video of Ryan on his way back through LAX; Ryan played a clip where he said he was happy to be back, rested, and 4lb heavier.

Ryan talked about going into deficit with his weight before going away with the aim of coming back even, and said he’s going to lose weight now for Idol auditions. I know Ryan likes to be slim, but I think he looks good when he’s carrying a couple of extra pounds. Ryan said he went a size up and was wearing a small instead of a baby small …

Ryan and Ellen also talked about the first thing they do when the get back. Ryan said it’s go to the store; he needed to stock up on kale for his juices, and Dennis said he needed to get milk for his coffee. Ellen goes through the mail. I agree with Dennis — gotta have milk!

Jason Segel

Ryan and Jason talked a little about Taylor Lautner’s body, Jason’s body, and then Jason called Ryan out for not answering his email! Shocking!! Poor Jason. He sent Ryan a sweet email, which he read out, and sat waiting by his inbox for Ryan to respond. Nothing. Bad Bromance. Jason was able to move past that long enough to talk about his movie Despicable Me, which should be good if the quality of the cast is any indication, and Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s wedding. Ryan wanted to know if Jason would be performing the ceremony (he’s ordained), but he hasn’t even been invited yet. Oops!

Catching up with news

Ryan said he caught up with some of the news he’s missed while he’s been away by watching Larry King Live and played clips from the Mel Gibson tapes. Ken Baker gave Ryan the latest, saying that a photo would be released showing his former girlfriend with injuries and there’s going to be a custody hearing about visitation rights to their daughter.

Not so Cool

It’s hot in LA and Ryan’s in need of a little cooling down.

First kiss, last kiss

Did anyone see a photo of Ryan kissing someone recently?

Unlucky number 4

CUPERTINO, CA - JULY 16: Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple Computer Inc., speaks during a press conference regarding the Apple iPhone 4 reception problems at the Apple headquarters July 16, 2010 in Cupertino, California. Jobs announced that Apple will provide customers with cases at no additional cost to help solve the reception problems and refund customers who have already bought the apple bumpers until September 30, 2010. Ryan talked about the iPhone 4 connection problems, pointing out that 4 is an unlucky number in China where the phone’s manufactured and that some device managers have skipped from version 3 to 5 and some buildings don’t have a 4th floor. There’s a press conference today to talk about the issues. Ryan’s heard about a cheek issue. He thinks all of these devices have a cheek issue, though it’s not the same one that’s troubling Steve Jobs.

A little luck

Ryan wished one of his shout out callers luck, then wondered what he was wishing him luck with.

A safe voice

Ryan was pleased to hear the voice of the man who makes him feel safe at night when the raccoons pound on his windows.

Finish the Lyric

Ryan decided to spoil us today by sharing his unique singing talents. I have to say this was one of his more outstanding performances. Nobody else could sing this quite the way Ryan does; it was almost too much!

Sadao’s Staycation

It's not fairy masculine skydiving unless you have a pink altimeter.

Ryan also talked to Sadao about his “fairy masculine” staycation.

Crazy sheep weather

“A knife cannot break through a duvet” — Ryan Seacrest

Ryan straddles his duvet, which keeps him safe from all harm (apart from raccoons, but he has Commander Chuck for that). And Dennis does an impression of someone I don’t know, but it’s hilarious!

Ellen’s ToDo list

Ellen’s son prepared a todo list and she wondered if he was trying to tell her something …

Storm in a pancake

We all saw the photos of Ryan swimming into the sea on vacation but it seems he was sometimes less than keen to go to swim meet as a kid.

CHOC

Ryan took a call from someone he’d met at CHOC a couple of years back and it sounds like Ryan made an impression on her son Seamus at a difficult time in his life. Ryan’s been at CHOC a few times. Last year he prank called someone in the hospital who told him he’d left already!
