Ryan talked a lot about yesterday’s Grammy’s show, in particular the battery investigation involving Chris Brown. Chris Brown and Rihanna were both due to perform at the Grammy’s, but Ryan had received news to his Blackberry that neither would be attending. Ryan spoke with Ken Baker from the E! Newsroom who confirmed that the victim is Rihanna, and she’s bruised and hospitalised but going to be okay. He also spoke to Jack Sussman from CBS who explained how they dealt with finding out they were two artists down a couple of hours before the live show aired. If you didn’t catch Ryan’s show, it’s worth listening to the podcast to see how they got Justin Timberlake on board and got it all together at the last minute. Justin sounds like a good guy.
Ryan Gets ‘Deep’ with John Mayer
Ellen K talked about how John Mayer crashed someone else’s recording session because he wanted to record a love song and Ryan pointed out that while his eyeline was right at John Mayer’s chest (check out the video on Ryan’s site!), he looked up and realised that John Mayer can’t grow a full beard.
Ryan gave the best teaser of the day for another Grammy’s interview: “Katy Perry, in an outfit that gave me a hankering for a smoothie! And is she really celibate? I’ll ask her.” What can you say to that! Ryan talked to Katy about going to the Grammy’s as a fan, her water melons, being introduced to her music by Madonna, and asked her if she now thinks twice about some of the things she says in interviews after her ‘celibacy’ comment was taken seriously. He’s just not that into you! Ryan asked if guys are honest about telling another guy if they don’t like his girlfriend. Apparently Ryan had a buddy ask him this recently, and he gave an honest answer. A caller advised that you should never tell guys if you don’t like the girl, because the guy will tell her and things might get awkward later. Honesty may not be the best policy if you like a quiet life, but it’s usually more fun! I vote honesty >:)
Also on today’s show, Ryan announced the ‘Dancing with the Stars’ contestants (omg Woz! The geek’s geek!) and spoke to contestant Denise Richards, the star of one of his production company’s shows, and talked about how distraught he’s going to be if his ‘girlfriend’ Victoria Beckham moves away from Hollywood. Girlfriend? The man’s deluded! And why’s he cheating on >me< with Victoria anyway (might as well bring my own delusions to the party!) But maybe Ryan should follow Victoria to Europe… David’s going to be busy with training and Milan’s only two hours from here. I mean, and there are lots of great shops in Milan. What’s the number for Ryan’s studio again… something something something R-Y-A-N. I think I should call in and suggest it!
Aside for UK 20- and 30-somethings: when Ryan gives out the number to call the studio, it makes me think of Saturday morning kids’ TV from the 80s and 90s … 0181 811 8181 (I can’t remember if it was Going Live! or Live & Kicking, but I remember the phone number and the jingle!)
