Ryan played a clip from Lady Gaga’s opening number with Elton John at the Grammys. Gaga told Ryan about her international stadium tour, which sounds awesome! Gaga heard Ryan’s gift of song when he sang Telephone, which must have been a little embarrassing for Ryan as I’m sure he doesn’t want to upstage his guests by showing off his superior singing talent. She took it well, but I’m sure she knows she’ll just have to try harder in future.

Everything Ryan and Ellen have said about Kelly before today made me think I’d hate her, but I was pleasantly surprised by how entertaining she was in the interview. Ryan talked to her about her book If You Have to Cry, Go Outside … And Other Things Your Mother Never Told You and the show Kell on Earth, and she spoke to callers giving what I thought was sound advice.

Ryan said that nobody liked the name he’d picked for his new best friend and Ellen had suggested ‘King’ in honour of Larry King. Larry had left an answerphone message, which Ryan played, saying the dog should be called ‘Larryking’ instead.
