On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2010-01-15

Ricky Gervais

Ricky Gervais is hosting the Golden Globes this Sunday. Ryan will be on the red carpet for E! but he doesn’t need to ask Ricky who he’s wearing, because they already got that conversation out of the way. Ricky doesn’t think the winners at awards shows should thank so many people, because it makes it look like they didn’t actually do anything themselves … his advice is to take all the credit.

General Larry Platt

Ryan talked to Larry about the message behind his “pants on the ground” song from American Idol, which went viral after it aired on American Idol this week. I never quite got the feeling that Larry was on the same planet as Ryan, but the moment when he put Ryan on hold during the interview to pick up another call totally cracked me up.

Simon Cowell

Simon might be leaving American Idol, but he’s obviously still close to Ryan’s heart as he got a mention again today! Not that it was a favourable mention … Ryan said he works with someone who’s constantly late, and doesn’t know if it’s a British thing because his English friends are always running late. I should probably defend this slur against my fellow countrymen … or at least point out they’re probably doing it on purpose and are therefore not late, just operating to a different schedule.

Size matters

At least to Ryan, when it comes to handbags. Ryan wondered if the tiny bags would ever come back, before saying they were impractical now because of all the gadgets people have. Apparently Ryan has a fascination with what people carry in their handbags, and described his mom hunting for stuff in hers, adding that everything in his mom’s bag smells like a stick of Extra gum.

I wonder what Simon carries in his bag …
