On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2009-11-24
It was an action-packed show today, so I was glad I listened to Ryan’s early advice and resisted the temptation of being unfaithful to Ryan’s show to listen to Adam Lambert on other stations. I recorded them though … does that still count as cheating?
Okay… won’t flip around. Maybe Ryan should let us know when it’s safe to go for a bathroom break though; five hours is a long time. Ryan’s show had plenty of talk about Adam Lambert too as Ryan said he’s been getting a lot of tweets about Adam and discussed his AMAs performance with Ellen and some callers.
Adam Lambert
Ryan’s radio show went on a little longer than usual today as he got the first interview with Adam Lambert after the news broke that Good Morning America had cancelled his appearance following Adam’s scorching hot American Music Awards performance. Ryan said that Adam had kissed a boy and some guy snorkelled in his crotch, which is the funniest thing I think anyone’s said about Adam getting up close and personal in the dancer’s face. Adam said the sexuality was mostly choreographed, but confirmed to Ryan that he had got a little carried away when the adrenaline kicked in, but he was happy with that as he felt he was just interpreting the lyrics of his song.
When Ryan asked how Adam felt about his GMA appearance being cancelled, Adam told him it was too bad because there are fans who want to see him, but he doesn’t feel an apology is necessary because his performance was no big deal on late night TV. Ryan wanted to know if Adam would have done that kind of performance on American Idol, saying there’s no way he would have had Kris Allen do that with him. Too funny Ryan!
Seeing as the result was a few extra minutes of Ryan AND a “Secrest, Out” … oh, and Adam got a TON of publicity on the days he released his album and video … I don’t think it’s worked out too badly, but I do feel sorry for the people who’ve missed out on seeing Adam perform and hope they get another opportunity. I LOVED Adam’s AMAs performance … his singing not so much in parts, but I’ve heard him sing live and know he’s amazing, so he gets a free pass this once ;) I thought it was hot but I wouldn’t have called it outrageous so I’m surprised at all the fuss it caused.
Sofia Vergara
This would have been my favourite interview of the day if Ryan hadn’t got Adam Lambert on the phone for his extended show. Ryan was talking about thinking Sofia was hot watching the start of the AMAs on TV, then when he saw her backstage (while he was licking the icing off a cupcake…) he didn’t manage to say anything to her! Then Sofia called in … and Ryan was hilarious.
She’s pretty hot actually … they’d make an attractive couple!
Nigel Lythgoe
This interview started with Ryan deliberately mispronouncing Nigel’s surname and Nigel asking Ryan if it was him Adam Lambert was kissing at the AMAs … and it went downhill from there so, naturally, it was very entertaining! Ryan and Nigel discussed Adam’s AMAs performance (Ryan thought maybe the crotch dive was choreographed by Nigel) and Adam Lambert being cut from the GMA appearance. Ryan wanted to know if Nigel would have pulled Adam’s appearance after his AMAs performance; Nigel didn’t think it was necessary, but would have given him a stern word of warning, adding it’s too early in his career to polarise an audience.
Nigel was on to promote the Dizzy Feet Foundation and the packages that are available via the website: Dizzy Feet Foundation Charity Auction Nigel mentioned the opportunity to meet Miley Cyrus, tickets for the 3 great finales, his American Idol jacket and an invitation from Adam Shankman to go behind the scenes of the Oscars.
Judd Apatow
The Funny People DVD is out today — a double blu-ray disk with six hours of extras. Judd Apatow was so funny in his interview! Judd talked about interviewing comedians in high school and pretending he was with a proper radio station. At one point he interrupted Ryan to listen to Ryan’s Andre Agassi interview, before joking about the similarities between him and Agassi. Ryan asked about his next movie; Judd was still working on it, but had a title: 60 Seconds of Sleaze … the whole movie is about Lady Gaga buying pizza for her fans (one of Ellen’s stories). Then he started talking about Dr Oz … and ribbed Ryan about discussing mammography with him. I loved him right up until the point where Ryan said he should host the show when he’s away. What? Nooooo! Do I listen to American Top 40 when Ryan’s not on it? No, I don’t! Except when Adam and Kris took over … but I wouldn’t want to listen to Adam standing in on Ryan’s morning show any more than I’d like to watch Ryan singing and dancing to For Your Entertainment. Actually, now I think about it, that might be a really bad comparison ;) I wonder if Ryan takes gift of song requests
Jimmy Fallon
Ryan and Jimmy had a conversation about New Moon, Robert Pattinson and climbing a tree at 30 Rock before talking about Jimmy’s appearance on a float in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
