Anderson Cooper
I don’t really know Anderson Cooper other than as someone who appears on Ryan’s show now and then, but I’m starting to adore him. He’s funny and a bit snarky … I laughed out loud at his comments about Lauren Conrad’s writing … and for someone whose interest in pop culture veers towards the meta-level, he’s wonderfully entertaining. The funniest thing was when Anderson said he liked the donuts in the green room, but thought they could offer something healthy … but that’s all part of Ryan’s plan to make everyone else look puffy.
They also talked about the end of the Oprah Winfrey show … and Ryan may have a little security issue as he’ll have to share Roger!

Lady Gaga
Ryan asked Lady Gaga about travelling and preparing for the AMAs and her tour. Gaga talked about her management telling her not to put a second album out just yet, then playing it to them about a month ago after going away and writing it anyway, and deciding to put it out because the fans deserve it. Gaga always seems to talk a lot about fan support — the cynical side of me thinks she’s incredibly smart at building her relationship with the music- and ticket-buying public, but she comes across as very appreciative of everyone involved in her success from fans to management to people playing her records. There’s no doubt in my mind that she’s one of the most exciting artists of recent times — love her or hate her (I love her), she’s not afraid to shake things up. That she comes across as sweet, intelligent and charmingly kooky in interview too makes her performances seem all the more authentic.
Shakira
Shakira’s album is out on Monday. Ryan asked her why it was released in Europe and Latin America first, and it was to do with adding a new track. Shakira says she spends a lot of time in the studio, and confirmed to Ryan that she had about 50 or 60 songs to choose from before narrowing it down.
New Moon
Ryan was still talking about New Moon … he wants to know which part of the movie people liked best, whether they cried and whether they laughed when someone took off their shirt. He played some clips from the Bing Box interviews from the New Moon red carpet. I saw Twilight but I don’t think I could sit through New Moon. I can really only tolerate the series when Ryan’s reading it … but as I’d listen to Ryan reading anything, it’s no great stretch.
