On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2009-10-19
Chris Daughtry
Chris Daughtry talked to Ryan about his band’s tour which kicks off today. Ryan said that they’ve become one of the most successful bands in the business. Chris put it down to hard work and fans who want to see them succeed. They also talked about how tough it was being away from family while touring. Chris said they all tried to keep in contact, but sometimes they’re so busy they don’t really have time to miss anyone, then they take a day off and it all catches up with them. Ryan asked Chris about performing on Halloween night and Chris is hoping to see a huge Halloween party in the arena. Chris is giving away concert tickets on twitter. He said it’s weird to do a contest on twitter because of how many tweets come in and he keeps it simple asking fans to tweet a word back.
Balloon Boy
Ryan was still talking about Balloon Boy … he seems pretty pissed about wasting several hours of his life on a hoax. Ryan said he had a couple of interesting questions … initially I was skeptical because I haven’t had a lot of time for this story, but his questions actually were interesting because he wanted to know if any media outlets were aware it was a hoax, and whether anyone paid the family for a successful publicity stunt. Ryan played a clips of Matt Lauer interviewing the family’s lawyers, and sounded like a Matt fanboy again (so adorable!), then talked to Harvey Levin, who told Ryan he was investigating the questions Ryan wanted to know the answers to. It sounded like Harvey was closing in on some information (I kinda love this guy!) and he talked about the various places the family had pitched a show to. Ryan spoke to a listener who thought the family should refund the state … sounds like a plan to me. If you’re wondering why the police said it wasn’t a hoax at first, Ryan cleared that up:
Ken Baker posted a twitpic of the message the Balloon family posted on their door:
They’re tired? My heart bleeds. Be careful what you wish for.
Paul Shaffer
Apparently the man responsible for this cult classic and gay anthem:
Ryan talked to Paul Shaffer about his memoirs: We’ll Be Here For the Rest of Our Lives
Debi Mazar
Debi Mazar is hosting the KIIS FM Purse Party, but she admitted to Ryan that she prefers pockets. I am so with her on that one! They talked about Dancing with the Stars, beauty creams and a cookery show Under The Tuscan Gun I’d never heard of her before, but she sounded pretty cool. Ryan talked about eating while he’s cooking and then being full when he sits down to eat. He’s mentioned that before, and it’s kinda cute when he talks about cooking. It makes me think of him as chilled and domesticated rather than the vibrant personality and tough businessman I usually picture him as. I wonder if he sings or hums to himself while he’s preparing food …
Ryan’s amnesia strikes again
Ryan said he remembered reading that blondes take six minutes longer in general to get ready to go out. He was in the middle of saying that he doesn’t like to wait when Ellen reminded him that he’d told everyone he liked to get ready together with his girlfriend, a conversation Ryan didn’t remember having …
Ryan’s Roses
Today’s Roses had a caller whose boyfriend of five years had started kissing differently! On the call, the guy wanted to send roses to someone other than his girlfriend, and he really wasn’t receptive to Ryan’s questions. It was so funny when Ryan started quizzing him about his kissing technique! Ryan cut them both off in the end saying they’d both become annoying, but I thought it was one of the most entertaining Roses for a while.
Lady Gaga
Ryan premiered Lady Gaga’s new track Bad Romance … you can listen to it on his website: Lady Gaga Releases Final Version of New Single ‘Bad Romance’ I don’t like it as much as her previous singles.
