This interview made my day … Ryan is such a fanboy. He sounded so hyped and I loved his tweets:

RyanSeacrest: Matt lauer Is here. What u wanna know about him?

Uh. Whatever. ~~Who is he?~~

RyanSeacrest: Matt lauer came by he looks just like matt lauer in person…dresses the same…sits the same…!

Like… wow… who’d have thought that!

Ryan said something similar on air, but in context it actually made a lot more sense:

After Ryan had mentioned how good Matt is at what he does, Matt talked about making screw ups and described one of his most embarrassing moments. He had Robert Kennedy Jr on the show and meant to ask how his uncle was but asked how his dad was instead.

Ryan wanted to know what Matt thought about the Jon and Kate craze. He said he didn’t get it, saying ‘you get what you ask for’, saying it seemed to get worse the more it’s covered. Ryan also quizzed Matt about how much time he had to prepare for items on the show, what time he goes to sleep, when he gets up and whether they get up to pee at the same time …

Ryan organised a gift — a pair of socks with ‘Matt’ on one and ‘Lauer’ on the other so that when he crosses his legs on the show it’ll read ‘Matt Lauer’. Cute! Matt was obviously impressed…

Tina Fey

Ryan said Matt Lauer wanted Ryan to invite a guest on because he doesn’t feel comfortable unless he’s interviewing someone! Ryan asked Tina if it’s true she doesn’t need the glasses she’s known for. She says she needs them to read things far away so she doesn’t need them on the set of 30 Rock. They talked about the premier of 30 Rock and some of the things that happen in tonight’s show.

Ivanka Trump

Ryan talked to Ivanka about her new book and her forthcoming wedding. Before the interview, Ryan wondered to Ellen what it would be like to be married to Ivanka … Ellen reminded him of the no Blackberry by the bed rule, which Ryan thought that was a total turn-off though he was very much in favour of the photo on the front of the book!

Fergie’s mom Terri

Fergie’s mom was talking about the rumours Fergie has signed a deal to be part owner of the Dolphins. Fergie is in Australia at the moment. Terri mentioned ‘Ryan Lambert’ … she quickly corrected that to Adam, but Ryan was quick saying “just because we dress the same, don’t confuse us!”

Top places to meet a good guy

Ryan and Ellen were talking about another list today — the top ten places to meet a good guy. On the list were a sports bar, steak house, driving range, in line at a movie theatre, class at a local college and a dog park. Not recommended was a salon, frozen yoghurt shop and the laundromat. Ryan said an important omission was the Farmers’ market because guys go there knowing girls are going to be there. There was a lot of argument over the sports bar, particularly when Patty recommended going there alone so there’s no competition. Ryan said he preferred to approach a group of girls … maybe he just likes an audience!

Ryan performed his own special version of a Taylor Swift song today. While Ryan was ~~choking on his breakfast~~ finishing up his warmup exercises, I shot over to the hifi to adjust the volume. My friend was puzzled that I adjusted the volume UP. I’m not quite sure what he meant by that. I think maybe the emotion of the moment got to him because it was an exceptional performance, even by Ryan’s standards.
