On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2009-10-14
Nelly Furtado
Ryan talked to Nelly about her album being number one for four weeks on the Latin charts and being number one in other countries such as Germany. Ryan asked about writing in English and Nelly said she ran out of words and couldn’t think of anything so started writing in Spanish instead though she has since written in English. When Ryan asked if she wrote about the same things in Spanish and English, Nelly said there’s more love in Spanish because you can be more passionate.
Nelly will be cohost at the MTV Latin Music Awards.
Encyclopedia of Men
Ellen said that half of all men pretend to be asleep to avoid sex … Ryan said if that’s the case, how many women pretend to be asleep! According to this study, 17% of men worry about calories when they eat. Ellen said she thought 99% of women count calories and Ryan added that 90% of men did too in their zip code. Ellen wanted to tell Ryan where the worst lovers are from … Germany, which she pointed out borders Switzerland where his family is from. Ellen also said that 3 in 10 men realise they’re with the wrong person but stay with them anyway. Wonderfully cynical Ryan thought that was more like 9 out of 10. Ellen also said that 7 out of 10 men worry about how much they spend on a date. That sounds like the guys are paying… maybe splitting or alternating the costs is a European thing.
Ryan has a leak but doesn’t have a leak
Ryan mentioned rain and a power outage several times. I think I missed something because it sounds like California can’t cope with a bit of rain! Ryan’s story of his night made me laugh, but I hope he gets a better night’s sleep tonight.
I love the sound of rain … repetitive noises like rain and traffic lull me to sleep … it might be weird, but I love it when I get to stay somewhere near a busy road or railway, and my absolute favourite is the sound of the ocean crashing against rocks.
Ryan’s over his child envy?
Ellen was talking about Heidi Klum and Seal not having any more kids now they’ve just had their fourth. Ryan seemed to think that was a good idea, saying: “four kids is a lot … anything above zero is pushing it”
On Air with Ryan and his dog
Ryan is still talking about getting a dog … he wants to get a rescue dog and take it into the studio with him, but there’s apparently a rule against taking one into the building. Ryan needs to work that one out … I used to take my parents’ dog to work when they went away — it’s so nice having a dog around the place. And so amusing when they take a dislike to someone and won’t shut up ;-)
Someone else who likes dogs…
Ryan’s Roses
The caller wanted Ryan to do a roses call on her husband because the seatbelt reeked of perfume, and she doesn’t wear perfume because of an allergy. Patty made the call and the guy wanted to send the roses to his wife … and had a plausible excuse for the smell, having given a coworker a lift home. Ryan believed him … but the guy was a fan, so he probably knows Ryan’s roses AND Ryan’s advice on dealing with it. (Well … someone’s gotta be skeptical and it was apparently Ryan’s day off.) I want to hear a guy ask for a roses call for a change … it’s always women.
