Guests

Paul Rudd

Ryan and Roger from E! Security exchanged a little love as Ryan told him he loved him before talking to Paul Rudd about ‘I Love You, Man’. Ryan said the movie defines man dating, though I was wondering for a second or two what was mandatory and why they were talking about bases. I think Ryan needs to explain for the benefit of those of us listening overseas what the bases are for girl dates, never mind man dates! The film sounds funny though.

Alexis Grace

It sounded like Ryan was sorry to see Alexis Grace go home. Not because she could sing, but because she made him look tall! Ryan described the previous evening as shocking, tense and a little awkward and played a clip of Simon delivering the news. He said Alexis was pretty cool and took it well considering the emotion and pressure. Alexis said she’d put a lot of passion into the performance to try to show the judges that this was what she loved to do, but she didn’t think that Simon had been too harsh, just that it wasn’t her time and he was being honest. Ryan also asked about the judges talking about Alexis dirtying it up, and she didn’t sound sure but thought they liked her being sassy.

Nashville

Ryan was talking again about the trend for all the ‘blonde hotties’ to move to Nashville, and was talking in a cute southern accent. Ellen said it sounded false (my ability to differentiate between US accents doesn’t stretch that far), and Ryan said he’d started to lose his accent at university. I’d always wondered whether he’d dropped the accent deliberately or just never picked up the southern accent. I’m down with not picking up accents… I can’t even manage a convincing imitation of the accent I ought to have.

Sleaze

Angelina Jolie’s schedule is running her into the ground and she needs a vacation. Ryan doesn’t seem to think her schedule is insane, and while he’s probably not the best person to judge reasonable schedules, he should recognise an insane one when he sees it. Jolie, back to work you slacker! Ryan wasn’t convinced that going home to six kids and Brad Pitt made any difference: “if I were to go home and see Brad Pitt in my room every night …. I think I would be …. a little worried.” I would too … and a little disturbed. Ryan on the other hand…
