Ahead of this evening’s American Idol top 11 show, Ryan talked to Paula Abdul … whose contribution to the judging panel I’m starting to appreciate. And not just because she seems to love Adam Lambert even more than I do, though that doesn’t hurt! Ryan asked her about selling her jewellery on HSN and Simon Cowell trying to undress her on the American Idol set, to which Paula replied, “he always does!” Ryan asked Paula about saying that Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert would go all the way to the final (I hope she’s right about Adam) and the two of them talked about the judges’ save.
Nicolas Cage
Ryan talked to Nicolas Cage about “Knowing”, which is out this Friday. The film involves major disasters so Ryan asked if they were based on actual disasters of the last 50 years. Nic said the only one that is actually connected is 9/11 and there is a reference to a tsunami, but otherwise it’s disasters that unfold in the storyline. Ryan asked about a plane crash and how that will affect people who are afraid to fly. Nic didn’t have an answer to that, but he said he was genuinely scared during filming for the people who were on fire for the stunt.
I got chills at the line: “what happens when the numbers run out?” This looks like a movie I really have to see!
Gossip Girl
Ryan talked about playing drinking games to particular shows and played clips from Gossip Girl about Blair jumping to the wrong conclusion about who anonymously tipped off Yale about an earlier scandal, causing her to lose a place there. Classic line: “people aren’t jealous of you, Blair … they HATE you!”

Vicky called in because the guy she’s been dating for two months is still a virgin at 27.
Ryan: “When a girl is a virgin at 27, then you got a good girl. When a guy’s 27 and a virgin … some might say … you have a situation”
Woah… some might say ‘double standards’! Ryan’s advice is to put herself back on the market but some of his callers have a little more patience. One caller said her husband was a virgin when they’d met and they dated for three years before they were intimate. Ryan sounded impressed by her patience but was not at all convinced by her assertion that he’d been ‘fantastic’ the first time. Enthusiastic, maybe! Another caller said she’d dated a virgin but although she wanted some action, she thought his first time should be special. The three hour show didn’t have enough of the callers’ comments so we might see if we can ‘recall’ a few from the five hour show.
