According to Ryan, there are two types of people at the store: those who return the cart and those who don’t.

It’s been four years since the last leap year, so Ryan had to remind himself how this thing works.

The first Idol live show is tonight, and we finally get to find out who the extra guy is. Ryan isn’t giving anything away! He said to expect good comments from the judges if things go as they did in rehearsals.

For most people, lighting a fire is cosy and relaxing way to end the evening. For Ryan, it involves enough over-analysis to keep him up past his bedtime.

Ellen’s brought Ryan some biodegradable waste bags. It really doesn’t sound like he’s down with the idea of throwing it on the ground … he needs to know how it’s going to work and he’s worried about what other people will think. Very good points.

Lexi and Harley weren’t the only dogs mentioned today: one made it to Ellen’s sleaze!

Ryan’s found that protein powder has a few side effects. Side effects he really doesn’t want to deal with while doing a live red carpet show or six hours of live Idol.

Ryan went to see somebody in Nashville, and became acquainted with the shots at Losers.

Tomorrow is February 29th. Ryan thinks leap day is currently a bit of a waste because it’s just another day. What he’d like is a double Saturday.

@RyanSeacrest: This needs to be made into a board game

Ryan knows his stuff! That’s one board game he’d be sure to win. As well as the Live From the Red Carpet game, there could be a spin-off involving doing hair and make-up on a moving target.

Ryan discussed the biggest talking point from the Oscars: his run-in with The Dictator. Some people wondered if Ryan was in on the joke, but although Ryan knew something was up, he really didn’t know what was coming. Fortunately, Ryan was prepared for this eventuality because his mom always told him to have two jackets on the red carpet!

Ryan might have showed his class and professionalism as he reacted to The Director’s antics with humor, but Donald Trump would have preferred a slightly more direct response. I can’t deny it could have been satisfying for a moment to see Ryan “take a swing”, but I’m very glad he’s above that sort of reaction!

It’s amazing how quickly Ryan recovered from that … the time from realising what was happening to playing it off was very impressive, and his sense of humor afterwards is great. I think Giuliana’s excitement on Ryan’s behalf was the funniest thing about the whole incident.

Ryan’s looking good. It’s hard to believe he had to let his tux out!

Ryan’s mom, Connie, was on the phone the morning after celebrating 42 years of marriage to Gary. Ryan took a look back at a few of the early milestones in his parents’ marriage, and why they’re having more fun now than they did a few years ago. On last night’s American Idol, Ryan cursed and had to be beeped out after one of the contestants fainted.

Ryan’s Valentine’s Day evening sounds … eventful … at different parts of the evening he was dressed as Cupid in a red suit, naked in a bed of cookies, riding off into the sunset on a horse, playing an Adele song on a harp, in a bounce house, eating lots and lots of cheat foods.

(14:13) Ryan Seacrest calls in — you won’t believe what Harvey accidentally texted him today … thanks to a really awkward auto-correct.
(16:20) Ryan’s wearing the craziest outfit tonight that involves … wait on it … a GONG.

Ryan’s plans for this evening involve a prop plane, a horse, a gong, an arcade game, and a goat. Naturally, he can’t give details because he doesn’t want to spoil the surprise, but he did have some sound effects to share and intrigue. Ellen thinks they’re flying to a farm, where they’re greeted by a Chinese masseuse who takes them into the barn … and the plane had to leave before she figured the rest out.

Well, Ryan’s got a lot of props there. I think he’s going to fly his date to the top of a mountain, but as there’s nowhere to land they have to jump out of the plane and land on the horse. From there, they ride together up to a secluded place where Ryan’s laid out a Pac Man-style maze of red rose petals (complete with sound effects) that his Valentine has to navigate to locate gifts. A gong will announce the arrival of a banquet via mountain goat. Just don’t ask how it keeps the food warm.

Ryan was sitting behind Bruno Mars at the Grammys, which is great because he’s taller than Bruno … and not so great because Bruno’s hair is taller than the two of them put together. On the other hand, Ryan’s hair had a little height too!

When he’s watching back on TV, Ryan judges everyone on how thin, or not so thin, they look when they walk on the stage. Maybe he’s been sticking to his diet and is just hungry … though he shouldn’t be if he stopped for pizza rather than tattoos!

Is it wrong to enjoy the sound of Ryan’s voice when it’s a little strained? Sure, he works too hard, but that little edge in his voice is pleasing … and it’s not as if his hard work was without benefits, as evidenced by his suit’s score on the sparkle scale.

It’s “Sandwich Monday” on Planet Ryan, and Ryan is at a fork in his plans for Valentine’s Day. By the sound of it, one of those forks is in the meat counter at the Deli.

Ryan will be Live from the Red Carpet on E! and presenting the best pop album category at the ceremony. Ellen’s doing the voiceovers, but she won’t get to introduce Ryan.

It’s four days until Valentine’s Day, and Ryan now knows where he’s going to be. For realz, this time? Ellen still has a suggestion for him.

Ryan’s weight loss is going well … he’s lost 2.6lb already, and after a couple of days without eating anything fun, he’s resistant to a cunning attempt at sabotage.

Ryan and his team are a couple of days into a weight loss challenge and somebody is already cheating! Somebody is smoking in the bathroom, and Ryan wants to get to the bottom of it …

Have you ever imagined being married to Chris Martin? Ryan has. Chris Martin might be a rockstar, but he’s a human: he goes potty and has dark chocolate in his pantry. And he goes back into the pantry to eat the chocolate after cleaning his teeth at night. (That last one might just be Ryan!)

Although there wasn’t much time between the end of the Coldplay gig and the start of his radio show today, it sounds like it was worth it in more ways than one.

This season’s American Idol may just be the most dramatic ever! Contestants are dropping right off the stage.

Ouch! I hope she wasn’t badly hurt.

Seacrest Out still has a cult following, but fans of Ryan’s old sign-off might be out of luck because it seems like he’s found a new signature phrase.

Madonna’s on Ryan’s show tomorrow. After their interview on the Globes Red Carpet, he needs to come up with some questions that are a little less predictable. I hope Madonna heard Ryan’s “conversation” with her after the Super Bowl halftime show — it’d be interesting to know what she thought of that!

Have Ryan and John Stamos ever been seen in the same room? Well, we don’t know about the same room … but we can always count on Ellen to remember the important stuff!

Ellen threw out an interesting expression while Ryan was talking about raising the bar: balls to the wall. Listening to Ryan figure out the logistics of that was hilarious!

Ellen crashed in on Ryan’s Valentine’s date a little while back. He and a buddy were out together on Valentine’s day … no doubt that seemed like a good idea at the time!

Maybe he and his friend should have just skyped…

Or maybe not.

Ryan technically won the bet (by his rules) but he still went in to work in the Deli with Ellen. Well, that experience working the till could come in handy in the unlikely event that he stops working all 4394 of his current jobs!

Ellen wasn’t impressed when she heard her stand-in on Monday let Ryan get away with bringing Julianne into the studios and talking about big news and diamonds. It was almost as if he did it on purpose …

Ryan’s a little sore today … and it sounds as if Ellen’s running out of patience with his constant gripes! This time Ryan is suffering the after-effects of a new exercise toy. It doesn’t look dangerous.

Valentine’s Day is almost here and Ellen’s still offering increasingly elaborate suggestions. Today’s sounds far too risky, so it’s a very good job Ryan’s already got his plans sorted. Whoever is coming up with these may actually be in league with David Duchovny.

Ryan’s date has a theme related to a very popular unscripted television show. He wasn’t offering up much more. Wait … we thought Ellen’s suggestion sounded crazy because it has a full cast, an advance guard, not to mention shimmying, faux fur and knots, but maybe Ryan’s will be just as crazy. Is he still planning to wear white?

It was bound to happen: Ryan stuffed himself over the weekend, and now he’s thinking about dieting. Thinking about it while eating chocolate muffin tops?

Ryan started eating early, but it doesn’t sound as if he stopped eating until late.

Even his eyes are a little puffy.

Well, Ryan might feel fat, but he looked pretty awesome from what we save of him on the video with The Wanted.

After a trip to the salad bar in his gym clothes, Ryan was wondering how long it’s okay to wear gym clothes for after working out and when does it affect your skin or start to smell.

Ryan should tweet out a photo of him in his cool gym clothes … a new workout pic is long overdue!

If Ryan’s planning to raid the dog treats in the middle of the night, it’s probably a good job his dogs aren’t as big as his doggy pal above.

Ellen spotted rat droppings in a rarely-used bathroom at Ryan’s house a little while ago, then found them at her house too. Looks like they’re making themselves at home in the neighbourhood … but not for long.

Tonight’s American Idol is from Portland, and live shows are getting closer.

When Ryan’s not waving his arms around and stretching his elbow, he’s looking forward to cheating.

Simon Cowell keeps his whole crew waiting while he takes long baths, and Ryan thinks it’s working because Simon doesn’t look as old as he is. Maybe we should be worried about Ryan … that was the perfect opportunity to poke fun at Simon!

Ryan on marriage, trout and busboys. Just what was in that injection he had from his doctor?

Ryan finally had an appointment with his imaginary knee guy! Fortunately it doesn’t look as if he needs surgery for his knee, but his doctor had to spin up a special shake for his microphone elbow.

Had my knee looked at yesterday and found out my doc is going to Indy this weekend. I wish Tom Brady would get his own knee doctor.
