There’s nothing worse than someone wanting to use the bathroom while you’re in there “brushing your teeth” … and it sounds like Ryan’s coworkers are a little impatient, and Ryan might be a little paranoid about the lock on the bathroom door.

The New York Times is expecting an announcement today that Clear Channel is to invest in Ryan Seacrest Productions and help its owners identify other investments and acquisitions:
Mr. Seacrest said by telephone Monday night that the Clear Channel investment was an “efficient route for future growth” and said he would tap into the company’s marketing assets, including its many radio stations and Web sites.
Robert Pittman, the chief executive of Clear Channel, praised Mr. Seacrest as a businessman and said the collaboration was a chance “to share in some of the success we think he’s going to have, and to enable some of it.”

Those kids didn’t do Ryan any favors at all when they showed him how to play in the park! With so many injuries recently, it seems he could do with a little less activity and a lot more rest maybe a rocking chair and slippers would be a safer speed. Ryan was playing football with the dogs over the weekend and may have damaged his knees again. He has an appointment with the knee and elbow guy tomorrow, but he’s been saying that a while and Ellen suspects delaying tactics.

Ryan said today’s Finish the Lyric was outside his comfort zone, but it was a pretty good effort!

This video is the gift that keeps on giving … and since Ellen brought in Ryan’s old head shot, more vintage Seacrest is surfacing in his life.

Ryan went into the weekend planning to eat healthily … but, like most of us, he didn’t quite manage to stick to it as well as he would have liked.

We’ve been wearing an expression similar to this one since Ryan talked about growing a mustache for Idol, but it seems we can smile again because Ryan’s mustache achieved a miserable 15% of the vote and he’s taken the poll down. Huzzah! Who are those crazy 15%-ers? Ryan sounds a little sad that the idea didn’t get more love, so let’s hope he doesn’t go for it anyway.

Ellen is still coming up with plans for Ryan’s Valentine’s Day. Her latest involves an orchard or a forest, a picnic, Skittles and Ryan’s sister in a tree. Ryan sounds a little confused by this one … not least because his sister features more than his Valentine!

Ryan’s still having problems with his illuminated clock. He turned it around, but then he gets reflections … and his tennis elbow hurts when he reaches over for it. Maybe he should ditch the clock altogether and just have a lie-in.

Ellen told Ryan that the way he treats his smart phone is an indication of how he’d be as a parent. Considering he leaves his phone places, drops it into toilets, and commits all kinds of Blackberry abuse, let’s hope that is as crazy as it sounds!

A little Friday madness has invaded Ryan’s brain today … he said he’s thinking about growing a mustache for Idol — and his team mocked up an image. Ryan does look good with a bit of stubble, but rocking the Freddie Mercury look? Really not so much!
If you’re thinking about looking at Ryan’s link, be warned: once you’ve seen it, it’s very difficult to burn the image from your mind.
Ryan’s disturbing mustachioed look didn’t get too many compliments from his team either.
The only mustache Ryan should even consider is one like this:

Our favorite all action hero is still suffering for his art, but luckily it seems Ryan’s knee doesn’t need surgery — so long as he wears a brace. The problem is, Ryan’s not actually wearing the brace all the time … and he’s not flossing every day either!

Ellen has a friend who once employed Ryan, and she brought in some major swag: Ryan’s first headshot and a virtually empty résumé! So cute.
While they were on the topic of Ryan’s move to LA, Amy mentioned how cool Ryan used to look … dressed in black, wearing tons of jewelry and wearing thick cologne. Subtle!

Ellen must hate it when Ryan asks if he looks any different. Is he feeling bloated, or has he spent the last 24 hours working out? This time, he was feeling the after effects of eating a crazy number of buffalo wings. Ellen has her own issues: Ryan’s far too observant and there weren’t enough red lights on the way to work.

It sounds like Ryan had a bit of pep in his step this morning … it must be the beans. Whether it’s the coffee beans or energy beans, who can tell, but he seemed to have had enough caffeine already! Maybe he’s still excited from his interview with the vice president yesterday.

Ryan made a few observations about @VP Biden after his visit to On-Air with Ryan Seacrest this morning … and the VP made a few observations in return!
I wonder if the vice president noticed that everyone had dressed up for him … or appreciated Ryan’s special voice. Ryan had a little trouble getting the right entrance music cued up … but his alternatives were pretty good. Nothing inspires confidence like a bit of 2 Unlimited!
Let’s hope he doesn’t notice any roaches …

Ryan’s been thinking and talking about Valentine’s Day for a little while now and is on the hunt for suggestions. One guy had an elaborate plan involving a good wine and rose petals that was so good Ryan was almost tempted to go on the date with him! That beautiful friendship was over before it even began … it’s probably for the best.
Ryan probably won’t be putting an elaborate plan involving rose petals into practice this year as he’s learned a lesson or two about red rose petal staining the hard way … and didn’t he say he’s planning to wear a white suit?

Ryan got together with his fellow Idol stars, producers and a few significant others to watch the season 11 premiere this week. They ordered room service in Steven’s room — which Ryan’s going to say something more about after Steven’s vacated the room — and they were all in sweats. Except Ryan, who stayed in uniform (no doubt in case of an unexpected hosting emergency), and Steven who was dressed like a hippy grandmother in his usual rock star fashion.

On Thursday’s radio show, he played clips of some of the more memorable moments from a great season premiere including an aspiring Ryan Seacrest. To a Seacrest fan, he maybe didn’t sound or look so much like Ryan, but if the cloning and time extension research programmes are stalled right now, Ryan could hire him as a stand in for those appearances he really doesn’t have time for. People DO look and sound different on TV …
Don’t forget: there’s a third premiere week episode of American Idol tonight at 10P/7P on Fox after the NFC game.

It’s another exciting day for Ryan’s growing media empire: he and his partners are going to launch a cable network. Ryan’s involvement will be behind-the-scenes and his production company will develop and produce new shows for the channel.
“Ryan Seacrest, his talent agency CAA and the events promoter A.E.G. have been talking for three years about making a cable channel for concerts, live events and other entertainment. Now they have found the channel space for it at HDNet, the pioneering but poorly distributed channel owned by the billionaire sports and media mogul Mark Cuban.”

“Cuban said that in the the new venture, he will work with “Ryan the entrepreneur, Ryan the mogul and Ryan the producer.” “We will pick his brain because AXS is about pop culture, and there is no one who has their finger on the pulse of pop culture more than Ryan,” Cuban said.”

It’s cold in California, but our favorite man of many talents fired up his vocal chords and warmed all our hearts with a little singing.
I’ve missed Ryan’s singing! And it was a double encore thanks to a couple of major fails (how could anyone who would willingly go to a Coldplay concern not know THAT lyric?) We clearly weren’t the only ones who found the return of Ryan’s special talent a little emotional … Ellen was clearly overwhelmed at the end.
Ryan’s getting a little too much criticism for his singing. How rude!

Hot on the heels of things girls say, stuff girls say to gay guys, things cow-colored cats say, Ryan’s producers put together a new one: stuff Ryan says. Cute! We LOVE the things Ryan says! When he uses one of those familiar phrases, it’s like the feeling of coming home or snuggling up under an audio comfort blanket. “Everything’s fine over here” is my fave … it feels like everything’s right with the world when he says that!

It’s time to step up the Seacrest-cloning research programme, because Ryan’s falling apart! Two knee injuries, and now he has tendonitis in his elbow … sounds like his body is telling him to slow down! And stay away from cow-colored cats.

Cow colored dog eating man.
Ryan saw a cow-colored cat … or was it a cat-colored cow? If you don’t know what color cow-colored cats are, it seems cows are brown and white in Ryan’s part of the world. Either way, Ryan isn’t superstitious!
It’s surprising Ryan’s not superstitious. He’s starred in movies, and as everyone knows, actors are very superstitious …

Poor Ryan’s busted another knee, and it sounds very uncomfortable. He’s off to see the knee guy on Monday (after putting himself at further risk of injury this weekend) but we hope he’ll start to feel better soon. We’ll also keep our fingers crossed that the consultant doesn’t tell him something traumatic, like he needs to rest up for a few weeks. It’s bad enough he’s in pain, he doesn’t need a mental trauma too!

Ellen wanted to know about the wedding. Ryan didn’t want to talk about weddings … until Ellen clarified a little.

Ryan’s got over his fear of holding babies, so much so he’s now figured out how to use one as a piece of exercise equipment! The good weather over the weekend has a bit of a downside for Ryan: he’s not used to seeing himself in a teeshirt at this time of year. This time of year being right after he’s been eating solid foods over the holidays. All that will now end, as he’s on shakes and shrubbery for the next three weeks.
That doesn’t sound like a downside to us. Someone tell Ryan we’d LOVE to see him in a teeshirt!

It seems that Ryan’s still in St Barts, and all the prayers sent to the gods of shirtless idols paid off because he’s finally been seen without his shirt! And mighty fine he looks too; far better than he has any right to be after the holidays. The latest BAUER-GRIFFIN photos include Ryan making a one-armed swim:
“The pair had to actually swim out to the motorboat that would eventually ferry them back to the yacht on which they are staying. Ryan did some heroic, one-armed swimming in the name of keeping the camera dry. Well done, Seacrest!”

More vacation photos of Ryan, Julianne and friends. As well as a ton of photos, the article’s quite amusing with its descriptions of smooching, champagne toasts and — wait for it — full-sugar Coke.
“It’d be hard to deny that Julianne Hough really is just a sweet little cup of splendid. So, it’s no wonder it was she who was finally able to lock down the borderline philandering Ryan Seacrest.”
Ryan looks great, but he seems rather attached to his shirt … which will definitely disappoint quite a few people!

It’s almost time for American Idol season 11! It’s back on screens on Wednesday, January 18 at 8/7c on Fox, and in the UK and other parts of the world shortly after that.
TV Guide talks about the high expectations for season 11 following a successful season 10 and has an interview with Ryan and the judges. Here are some of Ryan’s comments:
On the interviews:
“Some crumble and then others rise to the occasion. It was physically intense for a lot of contestants.”
Causes of added stress:
“There’s a do or die about it. It mirrors what’s going on around the country, because some of these contestants have truly made up their minds that they’re going to go for their dreams. They are really passionate.”
The ‘new’ Idol:
“I can’t believe it’s only been a year. Each night when they walk out from behind the logo and you see this group of judges, it just seems meant to be. We don’t look back.”

Fortune magazine starts the new year with a very handsome cover photo and a feature in which they declare something that brooks no argument from most of the people reading this site: Ryan is the future of all media. In the feature, which talks about some of Ryan’s successful ventures and rumors about his future, there are some interesting words attributed to the man himself:
“As much as we all talk about the future and how so many things are merging, there is a simplicity that is crucial.”
“I want to continue to produce shows that directly effect change. We’ve gone too long without addressing issues like child obesity, so to be able to tell those stories and help people through television is a powerful thing.”
“We’re seeing platform, technology, and content all converging, and it’s happening quickly. It’s exciting to me. There’s an appetite for more original content than ever, and I have a company that creates content, whether it’s distributed in short form, reality form, live form, or game form.”
“I’d like to make time slow down. We’re developing heavily in that category.”
It’s definitely an exciting time with convergence offering so many new possibilities to deliver products that are greater than the sum of their parts. I think the comment about ‘original content’ is key, particularly when it’s offered in ways that make it available to the users whenever they want it, wherever they are and on whatever device they want to consume it. I love the direction Ryan appears to be heading.
