Ryan can’t tear himself away to microwave his coffee.

Ryan teased with engagement gossip during Ellen’s sleaze.

What could you give up for a year? Ryan thought about some of the things he could maybe give up. Sugar? Eyebrow waxing? Definitely not coffee … Ryan already tried that and failed.

“I’m standing outside the door, and I see the tears of joy and the golden tickets coming out. It seems like there’s much more of a flow this year than last time we were in this area,” Seacrest said.

Idol judges hope female talent shines in Texas

Ryan had a cube of watermelon for breakfast. Sounds straightforward, but as Ellen pointed out, it doesn’t always work out that way.

Ryan’s still on the road for Idol, and this is the pool outside his hotel! Looks like vacation, but he’s still hard at work. In addition to his regular jobs, Ryan’s turned masseur to the media:

Someone then passed a question from the American Idol Twitter account onto the judges: “What are your nicknames for one another?”

Randy responded first: “I call Ryan ‘Lovemuffin.’ We have a special bond.”

Rocks Off actually got a firsthand experience with the Lovemuffin earlier, before the press conference began. As we were standing around waiting for it to start, Seacrest came up behind us and massaged our shoulders.

Steady on, lovemuffin, all of us Randy will get jealous!

Ryan had some advice for a caller whose parter will be working away: it’s important to maintain physical contact, even if it’s just for one night a couple of times a month.

Ryan’s made some observations about purses in Texas, but he thought photographing them might be a little uncomfortable.

Not only did Ryan lose a battle of wits with his hotel safe, but the curtains made the room so dark that he couldn’t even see to pee.

Ryan had some important tips for anyone traveling around and staying in hotels … don’t get too clever when you’re choosing a number for the hotel safe, and always remember your PJs!

Ryan thinks Ellen’s “strangely addicted” to Pretty Little Liars, but Ellen knows far too much about Ryan’s viewing preferences for him to get away with a comment like that…

Ryan danced the shower dance this morning, because he was out of shampoo.

Ryan’s broadcasting from Texas for American Idol auditions this week. At the Savannah auditions 24 out of 36 contestants through to the judges got a golden ticket.

Julianne has answered a few questions about Ryan while doing press for her latest movie.

“The best thing about Ryan is… all those great extravagant things are wonderful, but it’s his thoughtfulness,” she smiled. “He is the most thoughtful person I’ve ever met.”

Ryan talked about Kim Kardashian’s wedding over the weekend.

From Ryan’s Sunday Profile on CBS:

“It is not my goal to be controversial. It it’s never been my strategy to be that person,” he told Smith. “So in a way, yeah. I get up every day thinking, ‘Let’s be vanilla.’ I have no issue with that.

“I don’t feel like I’ve gotta push a button today or I’ve gotta create a headline or be controversial. I have no problem being considered just ‘there,’ you know? You’re just there,” he laughed. “And letting the things, the moving parts around me, be in the spotlight.”

There IS a commitment Seacrest says he’s serious about: His girlfriend, actress and dancer Julianne Hough, who also rose to fame on a TV talent show, “Dancing With the Stars.” “She’s an amazing woman and someone that has completely made me a better person, has helped balance my life,” Seacrest said. “Because my life has been all work all the time. And I think for the first time, I’m actually saying to myself, ‘Wait. There are gonna be units of your week and units of your day that are devoted to a relationship and not just work.’”

“I actually am not bothered at all about being the butt of any jokes,” he said. “At all.”

When asked why he wasn’t wearing a tux for Kim’s wedding, Ryan replied, “I will quick change in the car…I always keep a suit in trunk.” It sounds like Ryan worked off the calories from his ice cream as he tweeted later, “Beautiful..kim looked regal, a perfect night. I just danced w the whole family.”

Unlike the British Royal wedding, this wedding wasn’t aired live, but Ryan Seacrest Productions will be letting Kardashian fans share Kim’s special day on October 9th and 10th on E!

The Hollywood Reporter talked to Ryan about the Idol’s Emmy chances:

If it’s going to happen, this would be the year. We have been on the air for now 11 seasons. We had a transition season last year and I think there was some doubt from people [as to] what would the show do, what would it deliver, how would the changes affect the ratings. But fortunately, we had one of our best seasons.

Earlier today, Fox confirmed that Jennifer Lopez would be back for another season … though it had already been announced unofficially on Ryan’s radio show.

Randy Jackson will return to the judges’ panel for the 11th season of AMERICAN IDOL. The trio, along with Emmy®-nominated host Ryan Seacrest, will begin their search for America’s next singing superstar when AMERICAN IDOL debuts Sunday, Jan. 22 (10:00-11:00 PM ET/7:00-8:00 PM PT), immediately following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP GAME on FOX.

Ryan tweeted out a photo of the happy family reunion.

One of Ryan’s callers today was a newlywed whose husband threw away her cooking. Didn’t Ryan take a call a while back from a guy who’d been pretending to like his girlfriend’s cooking for a long time? Maybe this is the same guy and this was his solution! It sounds like Ryan’s been on the wrong end of a bad piece of salmon himself, and he knows all the steps necessary to disguise the fact that he didn’t eat it!

A guy called in saying his current girlfriend had left in the middle of the night after he went out to help his ex-girlfriend who thought she was being followed. Ryan would want to help a girl out, but Ellen disagrees.

Ryan worries about squirrels taking a liking to his house if he leaves the doors open, then Ellen told him there are scorpions in the neighbourhood. He should be glad he doesn’t live near Amy: George the Bear

Ryan has American Idol auditions with the judges at the end of this week. Steven and Randy will be back, but there’s still been no official word on Jennifer.

Before talking to Sean Kingston about his horrific jet skiing accident, Ryan said his mom still panics when he jet skis or mentions motorcycles. He called to tell her he’s getting a motorbike and asked her to compare the relative dangers of girls, motorcycles and fast cars.

What’s more dangerous: girls, motorcycles or fast cars? … what would you prefer I ride?

Ryan stopped off to pick up batteries, and noticed that the shops are getting ready for Halloween already. It’s a bit early for thinking about Halloween costumes, but Ellen has an interesting suggestion…

Ellen got pulled over by a motorcycle cop and seemed to be heading for a ticket … until she mentioned Ryan’s name. Ryan’s been pulled over too, but his name doesn’t get him off!

Ryan was almost embarrassed to mention the last time he saw Colin Farrell … in the locker room.

Ryan has something in common with Joe Jonas: they both raid the dirty laundry.

“I don’t reuse wet stuff”

Ryan made an interesting observation …

Ryan’s been on the receiving end of compliments from the girls … or, at least, that’s how he sees it.

Ryan had a little drama in the grocery store recently … he realised he’d exposed a relationship and revealed himself as a cheater.

Ryan shared one of the secrets that would be in his book … you can tell if a woman’s interested by the amount of perfume she wears. Hopefully his book has plenty more secrets, because nobody seemed to agree with him!

Ryan’s mom sent him an email with some background information about one of the finalists from So You Think You Can Dance.

Ryan was spotted out and about with the Hough family last weekend. CDA Press has the details:

Ryan was meeting Julianne’s grandparents, Bob and Colleen Hough, for the first time and by all accounts things went swimmingly. The extended family frolicked at their houseboat on Blue Creek Bay … watersking and tubing, with everyone, including Ryan, taking turns on the rope swing. There was a visit to Hudson’s Hamburgers and an evening at Wolf Lodge Steakhouse to celebrate the senior Houghs’ 61st wedding anniversary coming on August 12.

Ryan said earlier this year there was a scripted TV series in the pipeline. Deadline Hollywood reports he is teaming up with Harvey Weinstein to adapt the Nanny Diaries for ABC.

the company is finalizing a deal with ABC for a TV version of The Nanny Diaries to be written by Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and executive produced by Ryan Seacrest. This marks the first foray into scripted TV for reality mogul Seacrest, who signaled earlier this year his intention to expand into comedy and drama.

TV Line talked to Nigel Lythgoe about the frustration of American Idol being nominated for an Emmy for eight years without a win. Ryan hasn’t yet won his category, but Nigel thinks he’s the best out there:

The other surprising oversight in terms of Emmy recognition for the show is that Ryan Seacrest has never won in his category. When I interviewed fellow nominee Cat Deeley a few weeks ago, she said she thinks it’s because he makes his job look so easy.

I think there’s a feeling that Idol is really successful and why does it deserve anything else? And everyone’s been swept up in that feeling, including Ryan, who beyond the shadow of a doubt is the best presenter out there. And I’m just thoroughly delighted Cat Deeley is now in that category too. For me, she’s the second-best presenter.
