Ryan got a chance to watch Idol back over the weekend … he hadn’t realised what a good view of his butt everyone got. Neither did we! How good of him to draw our attention to it … and if you believe that!

On his show this morning, Ryan announced the lineup for this year’s Wango Tango. Ryan will host the show along with guest host Britney Spears.

Idol’s executive producer Nigel Lythgoe was full of praise for Ryan:

Many people have described this as the best ever episode of American Idol, with Ryan getting a lot of compliments for navigating us safely through the crazy — and for being a good sport with Hulk Hogan, who’s reported to have given Ryan a kiss during the commercial break that followed their stunt:

Thursday’s results show of “American Idol” had it all: surprise guests Stevie Wonder and Hulk Hogan, a birthday party, a standout performance from Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson, and all ranges of emotion. In fact, the only thing missing from the elimination show was … an elimination. Judges Randy Jackson, Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler shocked the crowd by using their judges’ save on the lowest vote-getter, Casey Abrams, and the results were Emmy gold. This is just the kind of segment of “American Idol” that producers should send to Emmy judges.

Memo to ‘American Idol’: Submit this week’s results show to Emmys:

Part of me agrees, but the season is still young and there’s more to come from the new, improved American Idol. I’ve no idea how they’re going to top this show, but it should be entertaining watching them try!

Ryan’s got a fear of spiders crawling into his ear canal and laying eggs while he sleeps and he can’t go to sleep if he knows there’s one crawling around his room. One time, he even packed up and went to a hotel … though it sounds as though they didn’t believe that’s why he wanted the room “for a few hours.”

One of the funniest moments on last night’s Idol was when we discovered that Ryan wasn’t safe. Literally.

Hopefully Ryan’s back doesn’t suffer for that little stunt, though it seems someone else came off worse!

Ryan’s giving him tips? Where are the phones! It looks more like they’re playing Rock-Paper-Scissors-Spock-Lizard.

Ryan’s back is still sore. It didn’t appear to affect him on Idol last night, but he said we didn’t see what happened at the commercials.

During a commercial break I was, as I do often, sitting on Randy’s lap and we were just spinning in his chair and I said slow down this is going to hurt my back again.

All these behind-the-scenes recaps and not one person thought to comment on Ryan giving Randy a lap dance? Unbelievable!

This is probably the best early morning teaser ever! Ryan talked about buying new flannel PJs, with detail about the fastenings, and the waist (and who makes cute ones that work with the shirt off), getting into bed and getting comfortable … on top of the duvet … and arranging his pillows. Eventually (unfortunately) he got to the point he was presumably building to and talked about a guest he’d decided to have on the show once he’d got comfortable and started watching TV, but the story was so very cute!

Ryan talked to Liv Tyler on this morning’s radio show and got a few clues about deciphering text messages from her dad.

They also talked about the Tracy Anderson dance workouts but Ryan said he’s uncoordinated. Ellen asked if he has the mini-trampoline. Ryan said, “I have a mini everything. Look at me!”

Also on today’s show, Ryan talked with the eternally young Ralph Macchio about Dancing with the Stars and surprised American Idol’s Karen Rodriguez with a Jonas Brother for her sister! Unfortunately her sister doesn’t get to keep him, but she didn’t seem to mind. On Air, 21 March

Ryan’s in New York for his latest movie role … cameo … and had a table read by telephone with the director. Or so he thought. It turned out to be a conversation and he didn’t read a line. Apparently Ryan felt he’d missed out on something, and decided that he needs to have table reads for his radio show! He said Dennis got pissy about wanting a table, but before he had to head to IKEA for one he could put together himself, they called up someone at the building and found it was going to be easier than anticipated. But they don’t have the table yet! Ryan’s going to be filming over night and doesn’t know why he’s needed for so many hours to film a few lines. Ellen’s warned him not to bring Mr Grouchy to work tomorrow, but he’s not making any promises.

Another show we don’t have to wait too much longer for is the second season of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. Ryan tweeted about that from the gym!

Ryan has been spotted out and about in New York with Julianne Hough today. He said earlier this week he’d be in New York this weekend filming New Year’s Eve, starting with a table read on Sunday. Ryan has rehearsed out one of his lines on the radio a couple of times and talked about the movie in an interview with John Stamos yesterday. They’re going to be in a scene together and John said he wants to play a hairdresser or makeup artist who’s obsessed with Ryan…

Ryan shared another amazing behind-the-scenes video with us. He looks so much fun to be around!

Ryan sent out a tweet last night saying, “If I seemed out of breath during diddy dirty money intro, it was because I barely made it to stage! I got locked out of studio!” Here’s how it looked to EW:

With about 50 seconds to go, Debbie the Stage Manager began calling for Ryan to go to his mark. No Seacrest. Debbie’s voice became rather insistent: “Twenty seconds, Ryan Seacrest! I don’t know where the hell you are!” With maybe eight seconds to go, Ryan raced in and took to his mark, to the audience’s audible relief/amusement.

‘American Idol’ on the scene for Top 13 results: Adam Lambert > Diddy Dirty Money

Today’s a big day for Ryan — he has a call with the director of New Year’s Eve. Although he has been in a few successful movies already, this one could be his biggest yet. It’s not all plain sailing though … Ryan said he’s having a bit of trouble following the script — the character names change, there are stage directions and it cuts all over the place. And he has four lines. One, which he practices in the audio clip, is clearly key to the whole movie! It’s going to be tough, but if anyone’s up to the challenge, it’s Sylvester Stallone Ryan! He’ll be filming early next week.

Ryan has shared another fabulous behind-the-scenes video with us, this time showing the craziness surrounding the opening of tonight’s American Idol. It’s so much fun to watch this, particularly as we can look out for the parts we’ve seen from the other side when we see the show. Love it!

You’ve got to feel for Ryan’s Blackberry … it does get some abuse! If it’s not swimming for its life in a toilet, it’s being subjected to spillage. This time Ryan was fairly innocent. He was having lunch, his Blackberry was on the table, and the server dropped a garlic dressing over its face, getting grease in all the keys. Ryan dried the Blackberry off, but in the car this morning he couldn’t figure out what smelled like garlic! As if that wasn’t bad enough, Ellen then called Ryan out on breaking his new year’s resolution. Busted!

“Hi honey, I’m home!” takes on a whole new meaning chez Ryan.

Piers Morgan was on the radio with Ryan yesterday. After talking about Piers’ interview with Charlie Sheen, their conversation turned to a mutual annoyance friend, Simon Cowell.

Piers is pre-taping an interview with Mr Cowell today, and told Ryan he’s going to ask him how he feels about Idol doing well without him. Ryan thought Piers should open with that question, but he already knows that Simon is very happy for Idol. Ryan told Piers about his conversation with Simon a few days ago during which Simon explained that at this stage of his career it’s all about giving back. Oddly, Piers found this amusing …

Ellen said Piers should ask about Simon’s eyebrows, but Piers seems more interested in finding out about the “world’s longest engagement,” prompting Ryan to suggest asking if he’s properly in love. Piers interviewed Simon on UK TV not long after his engagement was announced, so it’ll be interesting to see if any of Simon’s words come back to haunt him, as well as find out if he has anything interesting to say about Ryan and American Idol.

Ryan revealed the top 5 girls and top 5 boys from the public vote after the top 12 performance shows this week, then the judges selected 6 contestants to sing again for a chance at a wildcard. Nigel Lythgoe tweeted, “@RyanSeacrest was brilliant on #AmericanIdol we had no idea what the Judges would do. They constantly changed their minds it was EXCITING.” In the end, the judges selected 3 wildcards, resulting in a top 13.

Idol cast-off Chris was on with Ryan talking about his Idol journey and his single to raise money to help support his girlfriend. During the show, Ryan blew him away by announcing a generous donation from @Proactive, which was matched by another guest, Topher Grace, and after Ryan talked to Ryan Cavanagh, topped with a potentially huge 1% of the takings from his movie Take Me Home Tonight.

Idol’s Chris Medina Surprised with $70,000 Towards Fiancée’s Care

Rob was on with Ryan talking about his movie Water for Elephants, and Ryan was able to connect as he also has experience working with elephants. Icing them. He really has had some strange jobs! Rob was calling from the top secret location of the latest Twilight movie and Ryan seemed most interested at hearing filming going on in the background. He could almost smell the scoop … I wonder who’s enhancing that audio for exclusives.

The top 12 guys performed last night, and it was great to see Ryan back front and centre! The top 12 girls perform tonight, then we’ll find out who’s made it through to the live shows on Thursday.

Ryan might be one of the busiest men in Hollywood, but if there’s ever a reality TV show set in a launderette, he probably won’t want to host it. Ryan said he couldn’t stand doing laundry as a teen, and when he was in college, he’d buy new underwear because he didn’t want to do the laundry. Maybe that explains the lack of clothing when he posted this photo … when would he have time to go to the store! Ryan doesn’t even like the smell of the laundry room, and when he lived in an apartment complex, he thought people were playing with his laundry. It seems Ryan’s really not a fan of any household chores, adding that when he has kids, he’s going to give them all the jobs he hates!

Andrea Canning was on Ryan’s radio show this morning to talk about her interview with Charlie Sheen, but far more interesting to us was the news that she and Ryan lived together for two years in Santa Monica back in 1995, 1996! They talked a little about the old days … in particular the parties! Ryan couldn’t even remember who else was living in the house at the time because people were coming and going so much! Ryan said he was shooting Wild Animal Games at the game and Andrea remembered him being a hard worker — some things haven’t changed.
