Ryan's Readings: Eclipse 2
In the run up to the Eclipse movie premiere, Ryan has started doing readings from the book! The videos from his readings in the run up to the New Moon are some of my favourite ever — if you haven’t seen them, you can find them all at Ryan’s You Tube Channel
For the reading on his radio show today, Ryan had props: scented candles, flowers and a scarf and he slipped disturbingly easily back into the role of Bella. Dennis giggled just after Ryan had got into character, so Ryan had an aborted start and needed to get his sexy back on. It can’t be easy for a serious actor like Ryan (number one at the box office!) to demonstrate his art if people aren’t taking it seriously.
I wrenched the door out of my way — ridiculously eager — and there he was, my personal miracle. Time had not made me immune to the perfection of his face, and I was sure that I would never take any aspect of him for granted. My eyes traced over his pale white features: the hard square of his jaw, the softer curve of his full lips — twisted up into a smile now, the straight line of his nose, the sharp angle of his cheekbones, the smooth marble span of his forehead — partially obscured by a tangle of rain-darkened bronze hair … I saved his eyes for last, knowing that I was likely to lose my train of thought. They were wide, warm with liquid gold, and framed by a thick fringe of black lashes. Staring into his eyes always made me feel extraordinary — sort of like my bones were turning spongy. I was also a little lightheaded, but that could have been because I’d forgotten to keep breathing. Again. […] I reached for his hand, and sighed when his cold fingers found mine. His touch brought with it the strangest sense of relief — as if I’d been in pain and that pain had suddenly ceased.

Great job, Ryan! We’re moved by such a touching and sincere performance. Hopefully we’ll get to see video of the readings again this year — props don’t come over too well on radio, and we need to see Ryan hamming it up make his subtle, meaningful gestures … and see if he manages to put the candle out without injury.
You can read the rest of today’s recap here: On Air with Ryan Seacrest 2010-05-28 On today’s show Ryan spoke with emerging singer Travis Garland, retiring Tonight Show musician Kevin Eubanks, and returning Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker. He also entertained us with plans for his weekend (ever wondered how many people it takes to come up with ideas for Ryan to relax a little?), research about lying, and his reaction to news that the Blackberry trackball is on its way out.
