On Idol tonight, Ryan faked out Michael Lynche before telling him he was safe, and Michael, egged on by the other contestants, hauled Ryan up into the air as if he weighs nothing.
Oh Mike. Please leave Ryan on the ground! It’s not funny well maybe a little and Ryan is in enough danger for one show just negotiating the staircase of doom!
Ryan Seacrest talks about “American Idol” and his life and career; chef Jamie Oliver discusses his new reality show, “Food Revolution,” in which he attempts to improve diets in Huntington, W.Va. Oliver also prepares a chicken recipe.
A one-hour preview episode of Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution aired last night ahead of the two-hour series premiere on Friday and it’s clear that this is going to be an entertaining show that will get people talking.
Jamie’s intervention took place in Huntington in West Virginia, on record as being the unhealthiest city in America, with almost half the adult population classified as obese and a high occurrence of obesity-related illnesses. The show kicked off with a shocker: the children featured belong to the first generation expected to live a shorter life than their parents, and Jamie showed them what the amount of fat consumed by their entire school for one year looks like. It looks disgusting!
On last night’s top 12 show, Ryan asked Simon about his comments to Mike leading Simon to ask, “do you want me to talk to you or to Mike?” Apparently Ryan wanted Simon to talk to him, because he left the stage and got a little closer so Simon had no choice but to do just that:

RyanSeacrest: Every 30 seconds a child dies of MALARIA. Twitter’s biggest names are planning to change that. This is how: http://bit.ly/cpcqhb
At the time of posting, the Malaria Envoy website is running very slowly, so please be patient or try later. Hopefully that means there is a lot of interest in the campaign.
Ryan found an empty seat at the judging table to welcome viewers to the show. No, Simon wasn’t still outside after sneaking a last-minute cigarette; he was seated in his usual spot … and so was Ellen as she made herself comfortable in Simon’s lap and smooched his cheek, acting oblivious to the cameras. Having a woman in his lap seems to be a new trend for Simon.
Ryan: Say hi to Randy … this is Kara … and this is something we should know about!
Simon: This is quite uncomfortable.
Ellen: My god! I didn’t know we’d started, I’m so sorry!
Ryan said, “everything is riding on these performances tonight,” as the camera cut to a shot of the guys sitting at the side of the stage. Alex Lambert was up late rehearsing if his yawn was any indication, and Lee Dewyze looked as though he had just remembered he’d been told to pull his pants up before getting on stage this week. Ryan let Simon ramble about this being a bad week to go, then pointed out that he’d already said the same thing, “…so the stakes are high?” “Highest they’ve ever been.” “I think I said it simply.” “But I said it with believability!” “Exactly.” Simon looked as though he’d lost sight of who was ahead in their exchange as Ryan introduced Katie Stevens, gave him a pat on the shoulders, and disappeared off set.
A special preview of the premiere of “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” will air Sunday, March 21 (10:01 p.m.-11:00 p.m., ET) and will be repeated on Friday, March 26 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). The second episode will air from 9:00-10:00 p.m., ET, in the series’ regular time period.
“Episode 101” Jamie Oliver, the impassioned chef, TV personality and best-selling author, is starting a revolution in America, taking on the high statistics of obesity, heart disease and diabetes in this country, where our nation’s children are the first generation not expected to live as long as their parents. Oliver invites viewers to take a stand and change the way America eats, in our home and schools, with the thought-provoking new series, “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,” debuting SUNDAY, MARCH 21 (10:01-11:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network and repeating FRIDAY, MARCH 26 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET). The series will run for six episodes.
In the series premiere, Oliver heads to Huntington, West Virginia which has been called the unhealthiest city in America — to start his new cooking initiative. He hopes to start a chain reaction of positive change across the country. Jamie says that nearly half of the adults in Huntington are considered obese, and incidents of heart disease and diabetes lead the nation. This nation’s children are the first generation expected to live a shorter life than their parents do. Jamie initially meets naysayers and resistance. Battling ingrained unhealthy habits, bureaucracy, limited financial resources, and apathy, his early efforts are threatened when a news article overseas misquotes him badmouthing the local populace and their diet. Bloodied but unbowed, Jamie is more determined than ever to transform one community as a template for the entire country. The stakes? Simply the health of our country’s citizens and the legacy for its children.
“Episode 102” — Jamie Oliver takes one step forward and two steps back as his efforts to transform the school lunch program of Huntington, West Virginia’s Central City Elementary School are met with harsh criticism and resistance from the school cook, Alice Gue, plus city administrators, DJ Rod and even the school’s first graders. But despite the opposition, he does successfully raise the ire of school parents with a shocking, no-nonsense display of the fat that’s being fed to their children, and he’s encouraged by the initiative of a few caring teachers. The Edwards family get a wake-up call when youngest son, Justin, gets a frank warning from a doctor about the long term health effects of his poor eating habits, but then Justin is encouraged by a one-on-one cooking lesson in Jamie’s kitchen. After a week of ups and downs at Central City Elementary, the fate of Jamie’s mission to stay on at the school lies in the hands of a few district administrators, on “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution,” FRIDAY, MARCH 26 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
The series is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Fresh One Productions. Executive producers of “Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution” are Jamie Oliver, Ryan Seacrest and Craig Armstrong (“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”).
Congratulations to Ryan Seacrest Productions for a fantastic show and another ratings smash: more than 3.5 million viewers tuned in to watch the Oscars Red Carpet show!
Ahead of the first of this week’s American Idol live shows, here’s a look back at what happened last week.
The first performance show opened with Ryan saying that the contestants had survived their first results show, then shaking hands with a girl in the audience, pausing to say, “hello, thanks for watching the show!”
This was a perfect opportunity to grab a screenshot that illustrates two questions.
ET Online has a video from the THR Oscar Nominees event which includes Ryan talking about his prediction for a win (Sandra Bullock) and last night’s American Idol.
Ken Warwick talked to Ryan on his radio show about changing the order in which the two groups performed after one of the contestants, Crystal Bowersox, was taken to hospital. The girls will perform tonight, but they won’t know if Crystal is well enough to take part until around midday today.
