American Idol 2009: Top 5 Results
Ryan’s looking handsome this evening, but I have to concede Simon’s point about the stairs. It’s hard to watch Ryan make his entrance without thinking about how Adam totally owned them yesterday.
This week Ryan tells us that 47 million votes were cast and asks Simon about yesterday’s show. Simon thought everyone was good after watching it back and he thinks the competition is open. Ryan said that’s good news and it makes it fun. Sure… so long as the right person leaves this evening, it’s fun!
The guests this evening are Taylor Hicks, Natalie Cole and Jamie Foxx.
Ryan talks about Danny and Allison celebrating their birthdays and we watch a VT of them having a food fight, which was blamed on Danny so Ryan presented him with the $6000 bill for cleaning up the mess before bringing all five contestants to the centre stage.
Matt is first and Ryan sends him to the right side of the stage. Danny is second and Ryan sends him to the left of the stage. Allison is next and she’s sent to join Danny. Kris is sent to join Matt.
Ryan says that leaves us with Adam, takes him to the centre of the stage and asks him to choose a group. That’s mean. Amazingly, Adam actually picks one! Allison and Danny, who he thought performed better, but Ryan moves him over to join Matt and Kris as the bottom three.
There’s a shot of Matt, Kris and Adam backstage waiting to find out their fates and Ryan brings them back after a performance by Taylor Hicks, and sends Kris to safety so Matt and Adam are the bottom two.
OMG.
America. What have you done?! You’re all sacked. I’ll find a way to vote next week! Assuming Adam’s still here. Which he will be. Just get to it Ryan! Suddenly Ryan’s torture methods are slightly less entertaining ;)
When I said I didn’t think this would be one of Adam’s most popular performances, I wasn’t really expecting it to be quite this unpopular. I’m currently monitoring discussion in the various forums … all hell is breaking loose in the adamverse. Vote splitters are getting the worst of the flak. It’s very entertaining.
Next it’s Jamie Foxx, then we find out. Ryan is standing with the judges to watch his performance and appears to be rocking it out next to Randy. Something I need to watch properly on Friday as I had one eye on that, another on the forums, and another on twitter. I can count but I’m mult-eye tasking.
Dude! Ryan! Enough adverts. It’s time to put us out of our misery. I’m starting to get a little nervous now, but it’s Matt who leaves tonight. I’m sorry to see Matt go even though it’s the right result. Did Adam just give him a kiss on the cheek?
TFFT. I’m not so bothered about Adam winning because I know he has a fantastic career ahead of him either way, but his performances make the bits of the show that happen between Ryan and Simon worth watching.
Hopefully he’ll go all out next week with the attitude that if he’s going out, he’ll go out with a bang!
America, I’m very disappointed. And slightly gleeful at the same time because this is going to kick off all kinds of rubbish in the forums, and I do enjoy watching a good flame war unfold.
Next week it’s rock and roll … does that mean songs from the Rock Around The Clock era or does the genre extend into our lifetimes?
