American Idol 2009: Top 6+1 Results
Ryan asked a couple of times during the day who tweeps thought would be leaving:

and tweeted about Paula Abdul from the Idol make-up chair:
RyanSeacrest: In idol make up chair now. don’t forget hugh jackman is calling me friday on radio to announce his twitter charity contest winner
RyanSeacrest: Props to paula abdul. She’s been here puttin’ in some OT for the contestants number tonight.
No tie bar tonight:
RyanSeacrest: Going with a brown burberry suit tonight no tie bar! See u in 15 mins live on the east coast!!
Ryan’s suit doesn’t look brown on the internet feed!
Ryan announces 45 million votes before introducing the VT with Paula sorting the contestants out with choreography for the group number. She looks like a bit of a slave driver!
After the number, which was a lot more entertaining to watch than usual (go Paula!), Ryan brought Paula up onto stage to receive flowers. Very sweet. Ryan asked Paula how the Idols compare to the big stars she has worked with … Paula said she worked them hard but she’s proud of them.
Ryan starts by asking Lil Rounds to stand up. He reminds her of a few of the negative comments she received from the judges and said it was obvious how badly she wanted this and that someone like her was needed in the competition. Then he walked her across stage and told her the journey ended there. That was quick!
After Lil’s exit song (which was better than yesterday), a few disco legends get to perform. Freda Payne looks like a bit of a cougar. She sings like a cat too …. maybe lip synching would have been better here. Thelma Houston is slightly better and I like her dress. Oh not another … KC isn’t bringing any sunshine. It looks and sounds like someone’s dad jumped up on stage and grabbed a mic. Honest comments from Simon on those three performances would be very entertaining.
Ryan’s now going to sort the remaining contestants to find the bottom two. Kris is the first one and he’s safe. Next up is Adam and Ryan can’t be heard over the crowd, and he’s safe too.
Simon’s wrapped around Paula while Ryan talks to Danny about the judges’ comments. Ryan tries to get Simon to define what he meant by clumsy, but Simon’s being arsey and won’t play … which probably means he doesn’t know what he meant. Ryan calls him grumpy and when talking to Anoop he said he’s not asking Simon for an explanation of his comments because he’s not had a nap today.
Matt and Allison are the last two and Matt’s safe this week so Allison is in the bottom two with Anoop. Why doesn’t America like Allison? Hopefully Allison is through to next week, but if she’s out, will the judges regret saving Matt?
David Archuletta is the next former Idol to perform. I remember him being a better singer than he sounds on this performance.
Anoop is the second contestant leaving today and I think that was the right decision. The top five all deserve to be there and it feels like it could be anybody’s now with Kris, Adam and Danny the most likely to make it through the next couple of weeks.
