American Idol 2009: Top 10 Results
Who’s dream is on the line? It’s time to face the music. This … is American Idol.
The tie bar is back! Ryan’s looking hot, tanned. I am starting to miss the casual look though. Ryan announces the packed show tonight: Ruben Studdard, Smokey Robinson and Joss Stone and Stevie Wonder .. oh, and the results!
Ryan introduces the judges, with a funny ‘three words’ for Kara before asking Paula and her school mate Simon Cowell what was going on between the two of them last night. They were talking about the playground before Ryan said ‘or get a room’, to which Simon replied “we did!”
Still with Simon, Ryan mentioned the joke Simon made on The Tonight Show about blowing off the president for dinner.
Simon: Everyone believed it! IT. WAS. A. JOKE.
Spoilsports! I’ve been enjoying the fall-out from that :) I know British humour has a reputation, but I thought America was familiar with Simon so I’ve been surprised (and delighted) by this one.
Ryan: When we had lunch, he said he’d never met you before!
Quick fire! Next followed a recap of last night’s show before Ryan announced “the votes are in!” I love it when he says that. It’s right up there with “Seacrest, out!”
Ruben Studdart sings and makes Ryan look about 4ft tall during their chat at the end.
Ryan calls Adam up first. Adam’s looking pretty again tonight, and he’s safe. Was there any question on that one?
Matt Giraud in the bottom three? That’s unexpected … I thought he’d be somewhere in the middle.
Kris is safe, but Ryan screwed with his head making him think he was in the bottom three.
Ryan spoke to Michael and Lil together. Lil is safe but Michael is in the bottom three and Ryan points out the obvious that there’s one more in the bottom three coming from the lower couch.
Paula is out of her seat again … she’s talking to Ryan, but is she there because she wants to stand or is Simon driving her crazy?
I don’t think much of the Joss Stone/Smokey Robinson duet. It’s probably lucky that they’re not being judged.
Ryan pointed out that Allison was in the bottom three last week before declaring her safe this week.
Anoop is safe too. Next up, Ryan asked Danny Gokey to stand up … he looks confident.
Stevie Wonder is great, but his performance seemed to go on forever!
The stream stalled here just as we were getting to the interesting part … Ryan had Michael and Matt in the spotlight for a really short time before telling Matt he was safe and Michael he’s out. Finally! After Michael sings, Ryan reminds everyone that the save would have to be unanimous and goes to Simon for an answer. Simon says they haven’t decided, which is nonsense. Simon said, “I’m going to make a decision” and the stream switched channel. Damn! Awesome timing, but I am confident Simon said ‘no’.
