Of all the things he could have said about being behind the scenes at the red carpet, he chose that!! Very funny, and I think it was perfect as a twitter update … random, interesting (not that I’ve ever wondered) and relevant to his location.

On this final audition day from Hollywood, Ryan’s in another cute sweater. He looks adorable! Is that the image he’s trying for? His ‘this is serious now’ voice is great for adding to the drama; he’s so expressive! ‘Do or Die’ … no, there’s more at stake than that. From 103,000 people down to 72 … the contestants left now can almost smell the live shows. It’s going to be good to see which of them start to look like potential recording artists once they’re on stage with a band and backing singers.

107 contestants made it through to the next challenge — singing in groups of three or four. Forming groups was a challenge, and although most of them sorted themselves into a group within the first thirty minutes, a few were wandering around like stray dogs. Not a great start!

The best thing about this show is that Ryan didn’t stop talking the whole way through. Awesome! He threw a few numbers around, saying that this was the biggest season yet with over 100,000 people trying out. One of the 147 contestants who’ve made it to the Kodak Theatre is going to be the next American Idol, which adds to the pressure of the five days in Hollywood.

Funniest thing I’ve seen today!! Awesome picture of Team Seacrest — it looks like they’ve all joined a cult. In other news, it has come to our attention that Sadao is a hottie.

Round four of Hollywood week kicked off with Ryan looking super hot in blue jeans, a pale blue shirt and white trainers. Ryan said that it was the only day that mattered and explained that this year some of the contestants would have to sing for their lives. The judges were seated in the throne room of the judges’ mansion, which added to the drama.

I was stoked to find Ellen K’s website yesterday. It wasn’t exactly difficult to find, but I hadn’t thought to look for it before :-)

The site is worth a look for Ryan fans as there are a few photos and video clips of Ryan to be found … but I wanted to post the link because I love Ellen! I didn’t realise how much I liked her contribution to the show until she wasn’t there, but she rocks.

Ryan was on the red carpet interviewing stars arriving for the Grammys, looking great in an open-necked shirt and stubble. He does look good in a suit, but it definitely works for him to mix it up a little more casual too.

Ryan asked Paula Abdul, who was wearing a fabulously-yellow dress, about her date with Simon Cowell and which of the American Idol hosts she has had a dream about being in bed with. Paula denied dreams of Randy and Simon, but had already shared a bed with Kara and humoured Ryan saying she’d dreamed about him. Ryan got Flo Rida to tell a story about causing a bomb scare and quizzed Ne-Yo’s date on Ne-Yo's kissing skills and breath freshness. As Leona Lewis approached, Ryan started singing ‘Bleeding Love’, but it was more like bleeding eardrums. Ouch, Ryan!

American Idol headed to the ‘City by the Bay’ for the third round of auditions. Previous contestants from San Francisco include Katherine McPhee and William Hung but the first person thrown to the mercy of Simon, Kara, Randy and Paula this time was … Ryan Seacrest???

Ryan confirmed via his Twitter account that he has made it to Orlando for the opening of The American Idol Experience attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (Walt Disney World) Theme Park this week.

Ryan’s show airs on 93.3 FLZ between 1pm and 4pm, and these two funny YouTube videos popped up in one of the feeds today

The American Idol auditions in Salt Lake City, Utah, started with a reminder that this is David Archuleta’s home town and a warning that the Osmonds were coming. There’s also a repeat of our pink-bunny-hugging-Simon hallucination. If I see that any more, I’m going to think it really happened! Ryan described the contestants in Salt Lake City as some of the happiest people they’ve ever seen and Paula told viewers that this is the home of High School Musical, but the Idol machine will no doubt find a few tears too.

The opening montage showed Ryan ready to ring the closing bell at the New York Stock Exchange and focussed on the self-confidence of the New Yorkers. If I remember correctly, there’s an episode relating to this visit to the Stock Exchange on the On Air with Ryan Seacrest podcast.

The show opened with Ryan Seacrest and Simon Cowell sharing a car to the Jacksonville auditions. [I couldn’t help but notice that there I would have fit nicely in between the two of them on the back seat of that car, but I digress…!] Ryan was wearing a long-sleeved white shirt with folded back cuffs loose over black or dark wash jeans. We never seem to get a good shot of his shoes, but they looked like black and white canvas. Simon couldn’t let Ryan do his opening link in peace and tried to get him to say “here we are in Florida” in a regular voice and without gesticulating. Totally loved it! All shows should start with a little Ryan and Simon banter!

The show from Kansas City, Missouri, kicked off with a reminder that this is David Cook’s home town and a look back at his return visits to the city. 11,000 people turned up for the first round of auditions and there was plenty of love for him and the judges with “Simon says” teeshirts and Ryan Seacrest banners. Jason Castro turned up to the judges’ round to support his brother’s audition and got a hug from Paula Abdul.

In the UK the show goes out on E! at 11pm on Sunday February 8th. The show runs for three hours and repeats all day Monday.

I enjoy reading Bill McMahon’s comments but the problem I have after reading this article, and, in particular, much of the ensuing discussion around the web, is that some people seem to ignore one important fact: Ryan and his team are producing the type of radio that a lot of people want to listen to. It might be ‘lowest common denominator’ stuff, along with a lot of the reality and celebrity TV work Ryan does, but it’s popular and Ryan pulls in guests that most DJs can’t, which gives him a huge amount of credibility. Producing shows that professionals think people ought to want to listen to vs. producing shows that the public really want to listen to … which is the no-brainer? I don’t listen to Ryan’s show for the mental stimulation … I listen to it because it’s warm, humorous, doesn’t take itself too seriously and includes plenty of voyeuristic elements that I, along with many others in this reality TV and celebrity-obsessed world, want to hear.

Bromance from Ryan Seacrest Productions will be shown on MTV One in the UK at 9pm on Sundays starting on the 29th March. Bromance puts a twist on reality dating shows such as The Bachelor with the group dates, alone time and hot tub eliminations to find a “crazy, fun, down-to-earth and trustworthy” new buddy for Brody Jenner.

Starting today, Ryan’s radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest will be broadcast on WMGC Magic 105.1 in Detroit. The show will air weekdays between 4pm and 7pm, which should keep Detroiters entertained on the ride home.
